Study Tour Equipping Journalist in Luang Prabang Province

August 18, 2026, the Lao Journalists’ Association and CARE Laos led a team of 36 journalist (including 11 women) from 8 northern provinces and citizen journalists on a study tour to learn about community-based eco-tourism through hands-on field visits with the Enhancing the Commercial Paravet Project (ECPP) in Pak Xeng District. They conducted informal interviews with model families, village veterinary workers, and community members to observe the changes before and after receiving project support. Additionally, the team visited the Ock Pop Tok Handicraft Centre, an eco-friendly business model that promotes and elevates Lao woven handicraft products to international prominence. Throughout the trip, the team witnessed the true “power of community collaboration.” Most impressively, the journey highlighted the beautiful story of women’s empowerment, creating opportunities for women to actively participate and step up as leaders in driving community development forward together.
